Privacy Policy – Vidinsight
Last updated: February 27, 2026
Vidinsight is a Chrome extension that enhances the YouTube viewing experience by allowing users to analyze YouTube video transcripts using AI models selected by the user.
This Privacy Policy explains what data we process, how it is used, and how it is protected.
At a Glance: Your Data Stays With You
- ✓Most data never leaves your device. Settings, API keys, analysis results, and flashcards are stored locally in your browser.
- ✓We do not maintain user accounts or profiles. There are no usernames, no passwords, no personal databases.
- ✓Transcripts are not stored persistently. When you use our AI service, transcripts are processed in real-time and not retained on our servers after the analysis is complete.
- ✓We only store minimal technical data on our server: an anonymous device ID and one-way hardware hashes for abuse prevention. That's it.
- ✓No tracking, no analytics, no ads, no data sales. We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, or any third-party analytics services.
- ✓BYOK (Bring Your Own Key): If you use your own API keys, your data goes directly from your browser to your chosen AI provider. We never see it.
